01

Value is not a single market-price lookup

A part number may have a quoted market price, but an inventory assessment combines technical, commercial, documentary and logistical facts. Two lots with the same basic product name can produce different outcomes because their identity, condition, evidence and route differ.

No value or purchase outcome can be guaranteed before review. A responsible assessment starts by reducing uncertainty.

02

Exact identity and specification

The exact part number, density or capacity, generation, organization, package and configuration affect where a component may fit. Markings should be legible and consistent with the inventory file and packaging labels.

Suffixes matter. A shortened part number can hide package, speed, temperature or revision information that changes the technical and commercial fit.

03

Quantity and lot consistency

Usable quantity, unit of measure and lot consistency affect sampling, testing and logistics. A homogeneous lot is often easier to assess than a mixed group with different markings, date codes and conditions.

Larger quantity does not automatically mean higher unit value. It can improve project economics, but it can also increase verification, storage, handling and downstream demand requirements.

04

Condition and test evidence

Factory excess with clear records presents a different uncertainty profile from untested, recovered or rejected material. Available test history, failure information and sample representativeness influence the assessment plan.

Do not describe untested material as passed product. Disclose mixed conditions and unknowns so the review can define a suitable next step.

05

Packaging, storage and handling

Original trays, reels, moisture protection, ESD handling, labels and clean storage records can help preserve identity and reduce handling uncertainty. Visible corrosion, contamination, bent leads, damaged packages or inconsistent labels require separate attention.

Packaging alone does not prove electrical condition or authenticity, but it is part of the evidence set.

06

Product-family considerations

For DRAM, generation, density, organization, package and application fit matter. NAND assessment considers technology type, density, package and test-status clarity. eMMC and UFS reviews also consider capacity, revision, package and available firmware or test information.

No family or generation is always recoverable. Demand, documentation and project economics can change over time.

07

Provenance, authority and location

Clear ownership and disposal authority are fundamental. Current country, intended destination, transport requirements and applicable rules can affect whether a feasible route exists.

A technically interesting lot may still be declined when source, authority or project eligibility cannot be established.

08

Testing, processing and logistics economics

Sample verification, testing, sorting, packaging, transport, compliance review and recordkeeping all have costs. The technically appropriate recovery route and handling requirements influence how much of the lot can support a responsible outcome.

Recoverable value therefore reflects both the potential recovery opportunity and the work needed to establish a qualified route.

09

How to improve assessment quality

Provide an accurate list, separate unlike lots, add representative photographs and disclose available records. Verify totals and explain unknowns instead of estimating.

The review may request more information, a sample, a testing plan or may decline the project. Commercial terms follow only after the relevant facts are confirmed.

FAQ

Common questions

Does current market pricing determine the offer?

It is one input. Condition, evidence, quantity, demand fit, testing, logistics and project risk also matter.

Are untested parts always worth less?

Not automatically, but uncertainty and the cost of verification influence the project assessment.

Do original trays increase value?

They can support handling and identity, but packaging alone does not prove condition or authenticity.

Can mixed-brand inventory be reviewed?

Yes. Separate brands, part numbers, lots and conditions so each group can be assessed accurately.

Why might a documented lot still be declined?

A lot may lack demand fit, economic feasibility, acceptable condition, a compliant route or sufficient authority evidence.
